How To Fight Aging

As a rule, we do not want to think about aging while we face it “suddenly” in the middle of our life. American scientists have obtained interesting data when they tried to establish the date of beginning of human aging. It turned out that process of aging begins at 27 years old! Thus after childhood finishes the aging begins.

Most intensive period of mental and intellectual activity of humans is at 22 years old, but in five years begins process of aging. Then in ten years man faces with such irreversible process as memory impairment. Sadly, but aging is our future. Can we somehow influence on this process? We can.

First, an important role plays self-suggestion. For instance, when a man believes that with age human memory aggravates, then exactly this thing occurs with him. However, if we do not have stereotypes about personal aging then with great likelihood ratio we will not lose the ability for intellectual development.

Scientists went to even greater lengths and proved that everything depends on human desires, or in other words, always there must be plans and objectives for the future. Aging comes when a man loses interest in life, his desires fade away and the man stops striving for something new preferring resting.

Major secret of victory over aging is hidden in orientation of this inner motion. The point is that the man should not just strive for achievement of a particular egoistic purposes as it brings short satisfaction only to him, but he must take into account another people's needs.

Besides this, it is important to interact with society for achievement of common positive aims. Such approach may practically revoke aging and make life happier for many years!

Risk Factors For Alzheimer's Disease. Part One.

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive deterioration of memory and speech that makes patient unable to do without secondary help. What risk factors influence the development of Alzheimer's disease? This neurological condition is one of most common forms of weakness of mind which may be developed under the influence of next factors.

1. Advanced age
One of major factors leading to development of Alzheimer's disease is age. In the ages 71 – 79 from Alzheimer's disease do suffer 2.3% of people, in the ages 80 – 89 – 18%, and in the age over 90 -  29,7%. According to certain estimations, from Alzheimer's disease suffer half of people over 85.

2. The female sex
The risks for Alzheimer's disease in females is higher than in males because females live longer and the disease develops in elderly and senile age. One more cause is menopause and increased number of estrogen in female's body.

3. Alzheimer's disease in first-degree relatives
It is considered that Alzheimer's disease is developed under the influence of genetic factors and  particular lifestyle. Therefore, if close relatives suffer from Alzheimer's disease then there exists risk that the disease will be transmitted from human by inheritance.

4. Smoking
According to latest data, smoking two times increases risks for Alzheimer's disease. The reason lies in the fact that smoking has negative effects on cardiovascular system and leads to cells damage due to acidification that occurs in Alzheimer's disease.

To be continued.

3 Signs of Aging

Aging signs are not only those visible on face. Most important signs are hidden inside human body. How should you understand that you age earlier than you must to? What should you do to turn back time?

1. Strength
If you have noticed that you do not have enough strength for daily activities – it is first sign that you age more rapidly than you should.
What to do?
Work on your strength. For example, squeeze small rubber ball for about 90 seconds three times a day. Even small everyday loads would add several years to your life.

2. Balance
The ability to maintain balance is one more sign of a healthy and young body. If you stand unsteady on your legs you risk to fall. Loss of balance and falling are major causes of death from traumas when falling among older women.
What to do?
Make next exercise for legs: stand 10 seconds on a leg than on another three times a day. With time, you may increase time and even try to make this exercise with closed eyes.

3. Memory

Memory is retention and further reproduction of feelings, thoughts and images, objects and phenomenon perceived by a man.
Memory processes:
1) Remembering. During this process we find out something new by binding with early acquired knowledge.
2) Retention. This process in connected with specification of importance of any given information.
3) Reproduction. During this process knowledge is taken from permanent memory and is transmitted to operative memory.
With age we lose memory because of deficiency of mental exercises or inactivity. If you don't train area of brain responsible for memory, then this function breaks.
What to do?
Do not write on paper list of products you need to buy in the market. Try to remember it. Train your memory by remembering as much information as possible and then reproduce it.

Computer games will restore memory of aged people

American scientists have got from National Science Foundation a grant of 1.2 million of dollars to study the ability of computer games to improve memory and thinking of aged people. In case of positive results of research they will develop a prototype of a new game.

Scientists from North Carolina University and Georgia Institute of Technology plan to hold the research in two stages. During the first stage they will see if games have necessary qualities that positively impact on thinking processes of aged people such as memory, taking decisions, critical thinking and other.

On second stage they will make analysis of concrete elements of the game that does mostly stimulate mentioned processes. On the basis of obtained results researchers intend to write recommendations for potential developers of new type of therapeutic video games and also to create prototype of such game.

This attempt to use video games in order to help aged people having aberration of thinking processes is not first one. At the end of last year scientists from Illinois State University discovered that aged people who played “Rise of Nations” had improvement of parameters of switching over tasks of memory functioning and goal setting.

Computer games were used to help soldiers who came back from the Iraq to adapt psychologically and also were used to help surgeon develop spatial thinking and manual devolution. Besides, researches proved that being shooters is good for vision.
