What Diseases Do Treat Steroids?

Steroids (corticosteroids) are synthetic drugs with properties similar to cortisol (hormone that is produced in human body). Steroids reduce inflammation and inhibit hyperactivity of immune system. Steroids are used to treat different diseases which are followed by inflammatory processes. Corticosteroids do differ from anabolic steroids which are used by athletes to build muscles. Corticosteroids include cortisol, prednisone and methylprednisolone.

How steroids are used?
Steroids may be taken by mouth (oral steroids) or may be injected (injectable steroids). Injections may be made intravenously, intramuscularly, directly in affected joint or synovial bursa (obtundent surface between particular chordas and bones), and chordas area and other limp juxta-articular tissues.

How do steroids work?

Steroids eliminate inflammatory process and reduce activity of immune system।Inflammation is a process during which leucocytes and other enzymes do activate body defense against infections and foreign substances such as viruses and bacteria However, some diseases break immune system work which leads to development of its hyperactivity. Inflammation comprises articular tissues and destroys them. Inflammation is followed by redding of affected area, turgidity and pain. Steroids reduce production of inflammatory ferments preventing from further tissue erosions. Also steroids reduce the activity of immune system by inhibiting leucocytes function.

What diseases do treat steroids?
Steroids are used to treat conditions characterized with break of body defense system work which destroys articular tissues. Steroids are used in particular conditions which are followed by inflammations, such as systemic angiitis (inflammation of blood vessels) and myositis (inflammation of muscles). Also steroids may be used to treat such inflammatory diseases as arthritis, lupus, uratosis.

Sedentary Lifestyle Increases Risks for Cancer

The more time you spend in sitting position at home or at work, the more higher is risk for cancer, say Canadian scientists. To protect yourself from negative effects of sedentary lifestyle, you should get up and make some exercises from time to time.

“There exists strong proof that bowel cancer and breast cancer do rarely affect people who are physically active. However, it is not enough to follow recommendations according to which minimal activity rate necessary for the health is 150 minutes of exercises weekly. If in the rest time you make nothing but spend it in sitting position, then you surely will have problems”, report scientists from Calgary, Canada.

Regular exercises help to reduce risks for bowel cancer development by 35%. The more you make exercises, the better effects you get. Physical activity reduces risks for breast cancer development by 25%.

There exists an opinion that overweight increases risks for cancerous growths due to increase of inflammation rate in the body. Physical activity reduces the number of inflammatory markers and this explains physical activity influence on risks for cancer development which increases in presence of inflammatory processes in the body.
