Japanese researchers claim that music and laughing not just give a lift but also help to normalize high blood pressure. During a study researchers divided 79 volunteers aged 40 – 74 into three groups and examined effects of music and laughing on blood pressure comparing with control group.
Results showed that in volunteers who were attending lessons of music and singing, blood pressure was reduced by 6 points.
Those who were attending courses of laughter therapy got their blood pressure reduced by 7 points. In three months after beginning of experiments blood pressure of volunteers, who attended lessons of music and laughing, was reduced.
“Rate of stress hormone called cortisol in participants bodies was significantly reduced after each lesson. We consider this might be one of eventual explanations of what effects have music and laughing on blood pressure ”, say researchers noting that results of the experiment confirm just connection between both phenomena and not cause-effect relations.
Different experts say that this research specified the role which stress plays in blood pressure change. Various relaxation methods may be useful for people suffering from high blood pressure.
